Third Shift Musings - Fools and More Fools
DEI isn't sounding so bad right now, is it?
America is being run by a bunch of fools. Idiots. Morons. Straight up clowns. Cowardly clowns. But I don’t think any of us were prepared for the stupidity that occurred on March 11, 2025.
If you haven’t heard, Hegseth and his band of dummies had a group chat where they discussed war plans against the Houthis on Signal, a messaging app. Yup, you read it right. Hegseth, J.D. Vance, Mike Waltz, Tulsi Gabbard, Marco Rubio, Stephen Miller and John Ratcliffe discussed WAR PLANS ON A MESSAGING APP. And to top it all off, a journalist from THE ATLANTIC was included in the group chat.
Now I don’t know about y’all, but whenever I create a group chat, I know EXACTLY who’s in it. But that’s just me. I know most of you are the same. But not ole Mike Waltz. See, Mikey added Jeffrey Goldberg, the Editor-in-Chief at THE ATLANTIC, a publication that has been around since 1857. Mikey didn’t even know that Jeffrey had been added to the group chat, nor did anyone else even notice! How? How is that even possible? How do you see a strange number in the chat and not wonder who it is? On top of that, why are you even discussing sensitive war plans on an app that can easily be hacked by foreign agents instead of using a SCIF (which stands for sensitive compartmented information facility, which I just learned after reading Jeffrey Goldberg’s first article)? Because this administration is run by the most mediocre men on this planet, that’s why.
Of course, Republicans are working overtime to try and sweep this mess under the rug. Dan Crenshaw was on Faux News’ “Mornings with Maria” and he had the gall to say “We gotta move on.” This is RICH coming from the Republicans, who spent YEARS bitching and moaning about Hillary Clinton’s emails. YEARS! It made my soul sing to see Democratic Senators, specifically Mark Warner and John Osoff getting at Ratcliffe, Gabbard, weirdo Kash Patel, Timothy Haugh and Jeffrey Kruse. That leak put the country’s intelligence officers in real danger. Goldberg stated that an operative was actually named in the group chat, which is an egregious breach of confidentiality. This officer’s cover could have been blown had a foreign government intercepted that information.
This group chat fiasco is yet another way that this administration has proven that it is full of unqualified and ill-equipped people who are not ready for this level of defense or confidentiality. The so-called DEI Hires had way more experience, integrity and brain power.

Every day, this Administration lets us know that 1) it does not give one damn about any of its citizens (including the MAGAs who put them in office); 2) 45 and his ilk will tear this country down until it becomes the dictatorship they’ve been dreaming of; people will die due to stress, lack of housing, jobs, food, clean water, social security, you name it. The worst people in the world are bulldozing through every social service, university, law firm, court and whatever else they can destroy because a Black man had the audacity to become President (and win twice). We could have had an experienced woman who was going to make sure we had the down payments to finally purchase homes but instead, white supremacy and anti-Blackness won.
There is a woman I follow on Threads who thinks that MAGAs who leave the party should be welcomed with open arms to our side. I will never. I do not forgive easily and have no space for anyone who voted for this chaos. They knew what 45 would do, they just thought the harm would only happen to Black people, FULL STOP. The rest of them thought they’d be safe because their proximity to whiteness tricked them into a false sense of security. Elderly whites who voted for him are now filling up town halls to cry about possibly losing their social security (which he said he would do). Latinos who voted for him are now terrified because they’re being hunted by ICE and deported no matter their status (which he said he would do). Farmers who voted for him are about to go bankrupt thanks to the gutting of USAID (which he said he would do). Protest voters angry about Gaza (rightfully so) are now asking for solidarity even though Black people told them he would betray the Palestinians (and did). We could have held VP Harris’ feet to the fire regarding a peace agreement had she been elected, but now that ship has sailed. There is no turning back.
Anyway, I hope all of you who read my rants are doing well. I hope you’re finding ways to take care of yourselves and leaving room for joy and rest. Reading and getting back into running has helped me mentally, otherwise I would be in the deepest pits of despair. What are you doing to stay positive and sane? Let me know in the comments.
